Terms of Use

Last updated: 14 October 2026

The short version

  • This site is a free guide. Trails, businesses and conditions change, so always check before you ride.
  • Mountain biking carries a real risk of injury. You ride at your own risk and are responsible for your own safety.
  • We don't control the trails, landowners or businesses we mention.
  • Please don't copy our content or photos without asking.

About these terms

Surrey Hills Mountain Biking (www.surreyhillsmountainbiking.co.uk) is run by Winterfold Systems Limited ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17463406) with its registered office at 4-6 Greatorex Street, London, E1 5NF. These terms apply when you use this website. By using the site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we use any personal information and the cookies we use.

Riding safely: please read this

Mountain biking is a physical activity with an inherent risk of serious injury or death. The information on this site is a general guide only and is no substitute for your own judgement, skill and preparation.

  • Trails change. Trails are built, altered, rerouted, closed and damaged, often by volunteers or landowners and without notice. Features, difficulty, routes and conditions may differ from what's described here.
  • Check conditions on the day, including weather, ground conditions, forestry operations, closures and events, and follow any signs or instructions on site. These always take priority over anything on this website.
  • Ride within your ability, inspect features before riding them, wear a helmet and suitable protective equipment, and make sure your bike is in good working order.
  • Be prepared. Carry what you need for the conditions, tell someone where you're going, and be aware that mobile signal can be patchy in parts of the Surrey Hills.
  • Weather information on this site comes from a third-party provider, is for a single location and may not reflect conditions where you are riding.

You are responsible for your own safety and for deciding whether a trail is suitable for you.

Access, land and rights of way

Most trails in the Surrey Hills cross private land, managed estates or public land with its own rules. Describing a trail on this site doesn't mean you have permission to ride it, and it doesn't create or confirm any right of way. It's your responsibility to check you're allowed to ride where you go, to respect landowners, other trail users and wildlife, and to follow the Countryside Code and any local rules or codes of conduct.

Accuracy of information

We work to keep the site useful and up to date, but we can't guarantee that everything on it is accurate, complete or current. This includes trail descriptions, maps, distances, grades, parking, opening times, prices and contact details. Some information, such as Strava segment data, Tripadvisor ratings and maps, comes from third parties and isn't checked by us.

If you spot something that's wrong or out of date, please let us know at admin@surreyhillsmountainbiking.co.uk.

Businesses, listings and links

We list and link to bike shops, bike hire, coaching, guided rides, accommodation, cafés, pubs and other websites. We don't own or control these businesses or websites, and a listing isn't a guarantee of their services, quality or safety. Any arrangement you make with a business is between you and that business, so please check details such as prices, availability and insurance directly with them.

Listings are currently chosen independently. In future, some listings may be paid for or sponsored, and some links may be affiliate links that earn us a small commission at no extra cost to you. If we introduce these, we'll make clear which listings or links they apply to. This won't change what we write about any business.

Our content

The text, photos, maps, design and other content on this site belong to us or to the people who have licensed them to us, and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You're welcome to view the site, share links to it and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. You mustn't copy, republish, sell or otherwise reuse our content, including photos, without our written permission. If you'd like to use something, just ask.

Names, logos and trade marks of other businesses and organisations shown on the site belong to their owners.

Using the site

Please don't misuse the site. In particular, you must not:

  • try to gain unauthorised access to the site or the systems it runs on;
  • introduce viruses or other harmful code, or attempt to disrupt or overload the site;
  • use automated tools to copy or scrape content in a way that affects the site's performance or breaches these terms; or
  • use the site for anything unlawful or fraudulent.

Availability

The site is provided free of charge, and we don't guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free from errors. We may change, suspend or remove any part of the site at any time.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

Subject to that, because the site is a free information service, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site or its content, or from your use of any business or website we list or link to, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise. This includes loss or damage resulting from riding any trail described on the site.

If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your legal rights.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed. The version on the site when you use it is the one that applies.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
